Ain't nothin but a hound dog

Dan and I are a lot alike in many ways. We're not the couple that has one spender and one penny pincher. Neither one of us is super outgoing or painfully shy. We both say "potato" and "tomato" like any normal American. But we have one major difference: I am a dog-lover and he is a dog-hater. When we got married neither of us assumed this would be a problem. He knew we'd never have a dog, and I knew I would talk him into it someday.

That someday is upon us. We've made a deal.

Dan has been begging me to let him buy a plasma TV since they first came out, and I've simply been pointing out that we already have a TV, 2 TV's in fact, that work just fine. But I realized recently that if I gave in to buying a plasma TV, he would have to give in to one of my requests. Plasma=dog.

It probably won't be until next summer when we move to a new house and the boys are a bit older, but it's most likely going to happen. The other night we were online looking at which dogs Dan would approve. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of options. Does anyone know of a dog that doesn't shed, drool, bark, or ever get sick and preferably hunts for its own food so we don't have to ever buy any? He doesn't want a big dog inside, and I say if you have a dog, what's the point of keeping it outside all the time.

I'm posting pictures of two of my favorites. They're both "hybrid" dogs which sounds better than "mutts" but people are breeding them on purpose because they're so cute and have great personalities. Tell me what you think!

This is a Mauzer, a Maltese/Mini Schnauzer mix.

This is a Beabull, a Beagul/Bulldog mix. (We call Ty "beebs" as a nickname and it sometimes turns into "beeble," so it might be fun to have 2 Beabulls in our house) I should do another posting on the nicknames we call our kids and how they came to be. The nicknames, not the kids.

Oh you gotta get the Beabull! SO CUTE!

We have a similar issue in our marriage. For us it has turned into a 'dog might come if a pregnancy doesn't' kinda thing. And I've talked Eric into a dog someday (I think) and there won't be a plasma to complete the transaction. :-)

As for a dog that doesn't shed, drool, bark, or ever get sick, well I think it is Dan's favorite kind...a stuffed one. I like the dog options you have there, both so cute! I am so glad that a dog is in your near future. (And Eric is so glad that Plasma is too!)

Yep, the Beabull is our favorite for sure. Once I realized Dan would allow a bigger than 5 pound dog, that one rose to the top of the list. I just hope we can find one!

I am sooo with the Beabull! I can't wait to have a house for a dog. We both want a dog, not just our fat cat that we call "puppy." The dog MUST weigh at least 2 pounds, afterall, we can't have our cat heavier than our dog!
See you tonight

Hi, i stumbled on your page by accident, when looking on google for schnauzer pictures...

And i must say, the combo of the malt/schnauzer is a good choice- Maltese are the best dogs ever, are brillant, train excellently- practically born knowing how to do it. They rarely ever get sick.

Schnauzers on the other hand, have MANY health issues- even though they're my favorite breed.

Beagles have some problems too- however they shed like crazy short haired dogs=bad shedding. And they don't bark, but they HOWL. i mean, top of their lungs, for almost everything.

Bull dogs also shed a lot- and they drool a tiny bit.

Honestly- maltese is a great choice.

Hi, I just happened to pass by when I was looking up Maltzer pics. I saw one earlier named Henry which is the cutest little thing I have ever seen, and the pic you put up looks like him. I love bulldogs and beagles, but like someone mentioned, beagles are hound dogs and they WILL howl. They also shed. Maltese/Schnauzers do not shed, but they need to be groomed. I am definitely in love with the Maltzer :)

We have a beabull puppy. She is 4 months old and she is the best dog i ever had! She does howl but not very often. She sleeps a lot like a bulldog but is very playful and smart like a beagle. She actually looks just like that picture. Get one you won't be disappointed.

Hi! We were just online looking to find another beabull...yes, the picture you have of Murphy, is ours. He lives in Chicago and is ready for a sister. He is the love of our life. If you would like to know more about him, just ask..we have hundreds of pictures of him as a grown boy. This picture was taken of him in the back yard and he was about 6 months at the time...he is still as cute and the best pet we could of asked for. We are a little freaked out that when we googled beabull we saw his picture everywhere......Im glad you guys liked him though!!!

Hello....I just stumbled upon your page and would like to share my experience. I have a one year old bullibeagle he is half bulldog and half beagle and has the most amazing personality of any dog ive ever met. He wants to be by my side every moment he cuddles and plays and never went through a biting phase! :) I got him for valentines day this past year and hes changed my life forever. The vet says he is full grown and hes only 41 lbs and thats all muscle hes still a very small dog. I would highly recommend this breed to anyone especially with kids i have a 2 year old that plays with him roughly and the dog just lets him, its wonderful!
